The Hair & Makeup Experience at The Parsonage

The Parsonage at St. Johannes is an 1846 restored residence in the heart of historic downtown Charleston. If you book the home, you can get ready there. Here are some things to consider when it comes to hair and makeup or the getting ready experience.

Parking Options

There is a small lot across the street that is owned by the church. If you get lucky, you can find a spot on the street. There is a lot where you can pay to park down the street.

The doors open at 9 am

Guests cannot enter until 9 am. Realistically, your hair and makeup timeline cannot begin before 9:30 am.

The Bridal Suite

You have the entire second floor to spread out and get ready. There are 3 rooms. You can go to a completely different room if anyone needs to steam a dress before having their hair and makeup done. Food can be set up downstairs. This makes it easier to clean up the bridal suite before photos start.

The bedrooms have large windows on on side of the room and the bridal suite has large windows on all sides of the room. Great natural lighting if the day allows it.

Artists should bring their own chairs, maybe a small table and lighting.

There is a very aesthetic vanity in the bridal suite. It has a glass sliding door with a rack to hold the dresses. I highly suggest having hair and makeup set up in an open area and leave the vanity area for hanging garments and/or as a space for any bridesmaids doing their own hair or makeup to set up.
