What is Skin Flooding?

Skin Flooding has become a viral skincare routine that consists of strategically layering hydrating products on top of one another. Toners and essences are the most commonly used.

Benefits include:

  • Deep Hydration: Saturates the skin with moisture, combating dehydration.

  • Barrier Repair: Strengthens the skin's natural moisture barrier.

  • Improved Texture: Helps to smooth and plump the skin.

  • Enhanced Product Absorption: Prepares the skin to better absorb other products.

Who can benefit from toner flooding?

  • Individuals with dry, dehydrated, or mature skin.

  • Those looking to enhance their skin's natural glow and suppleness.

  • People living in arid climates or during cold seasons when skin loses moisture faster.

For skin flooding, the number of toners varies from one to multiple, with a minimum of three toners, essences, or ampules often recommended, but it's most important to use gentle, hydrating products without active ingredients. The goal is to apply several thin layers of hydrating products in quick succession to "flood" the skin with moisture.

Key considerations for skin flooding:

  • Hydrating Products:
Focus on toners, essences, or ampules that are specifically designed to provide hydration.

  • Gentle Application:
Avoid toners with exfoliating or active ingredients, as these can strip the skin and work against the hydrating goal of skin flooding.

  • Layering:
Apply the thinnest liquids first and gradually move to thicker, more milky products to allow for proper absorption.

  • Consistency:
Perform the routine twice a day, in the morning and/or evening, as needed for your skin.

  • Listen to Your Skin:
Adjust the number and type of products based on your skin's specific needs on any given day.

  • Finish with a Moisturizer:
After applying your hydrating products, finish with a lightweight barrier cream or moisturizer to lock in the hydration.
